PROPOSED CALEDON WIND FARM

Is this what tourists like to see?

An extensive wind farm comprising 150 turbines each with a total height, including blades, of 120 meters has been proposed in the Overberg for an area North of the N2 highway stretching from Bot River in the West to East of the R43 road to Villiersdorp. Links to the initial EIA documents have been established and will be updated as more become available. Links to references and general articles about industrial wind are also available. The Draft Scoping Report was published on 11th December 2009, for comment by 3rd February 2010. It can be accessed through the links in the right hand column, and will also be available at the Greyton Library.

  1. Stuart - if we are to 'save the planet' it might have to be what we all see.. I have some interesting stuff re the impact on Cumbria which is worth a consider

  2. Thank you Brian. It goes much deeper than a mere comment on the landscape, and we far from convinced that this is an either appropriate or effective way to "save the planet". Have a look at a selection of documents accessible from the links under 'Wind power documents' in the right hand column. Also perhaps have a look at Greytonian's abbreviated article in the latest 'Greyton Sentinel'. Looking forward to debating with you on your next low-carbon visit here.....!

  3. arr - the only low carbon visit would have to be 'a long walk' and even then considering the amount we would spend on food, accomodation, shoes, shaving(!), clothes, carrots... it will come to far less than the £300 on the airflight.... see new blog
